I think authentic assignments are really important for students. Instead of just feeling like you're doing busy work, it actually relates the material that you are learning to real life so it can benefit you in the real world. It also is really good because it can make learning fun and hold student's attention for much longer.

I feel that authentic assesment is more bemficial to the students than traditional assements. I forces them to use a higher level of thinking and to be more active in the classroom.

I like authentic assessment because it lets us know as educator that our students are fully understanding what we are trying to teach them. This way we can see sooner if we need to go back and help them so that they will not get too far behind.

Megan's Response
I think that authentic assessment is much more beneficial than traditional assessment. Students are required to have a higher level of thinking than the traditional multiple choice, fill in the blank, true/false, etc. Authentic assessment allows students to apply their knowledge to real world problems. By doing authentic assessment, teachers can truly see if the students understand the material.

I think that authentic assessment is a better way for students to grasp knowledge of a concept. I think that allowing them to apply what they know is always a better way for students to learn something, and it is a better way for teachers to check for understanding. With traditional assessment students are aloud to memorize information or recall information, and I think with authentic assessment studetns are allowed to be creative and imaginative and actually appy what they have learned.

Authentic Assessment
Authentic Assessments ask students to demonstrate their understanding by performing a task representing more meaningful applications. Most authentic assessments depict real life situations where students can apply their knowledge in the creation of a new product. I think authentic assessment is great. It allows students to analyze, evaluate, and create products that makes for a meaningful learning experience as well appeals to the higher order thinking skills that are essential for development. I like the idea of using authentic assessments compared to traditional. I think they motivate students and put them in charge because they are student driven. In addition, the students are part of the learning process and know what is expected of them.

Authentic Assessment is a great way to assess students. It allows the teacher to look closely into what students are learning and make sure that they are fully understanding the concepts, which is what is most important in education. By using rubrics, students will know exactly what they need to do to meet the teacher's needs.
